Hump day ended. All the worries and annoyances from earlier had been put in perspective before 5pm. I sat watching Criminal Minds as I surfed the internet. The thought just hit me. Actually it was a feeling that there will be sunny days ahead. In regard to the opportunities available to me, they are only limited by my perception and level of motivation. The question that came to mind was: Why do people say the sky is the limit when there are stars that have yet to be reached?
I assume when that quote: “The sky is the limit” was coined man had yet to set foot on the moon. My question is why would someone stop with the sky to begin with? After all, the stars and moon have been visible from earth for thousands of years. It wasn’t until after someone else succeeded and walked on the moon that the dreams of men were given a loftier place to travel. Hence the new quote floating around cyberspace: “Don’t tell me the sky is the limit…there are footprints on the moon.”
How many people are letting their near-sightedness keep them from surpassing their preset limits? Why did they even set those limits? Success and happiness are not reserved for a select few. One must “think outside the box” --- break from the pull of gravity (nay sayers and obstacles) and reach beyond the stars. You’ll never know what you can achieve until you try.
